Surplus Inventory for Utah Schools

At the State of Utah School and Institutional Trust Lands Administration (TLA), we’re committed to supporting Utah’s public schools. One way we do this is by offering items we use and replace—such as furniture, electronics, and more—free of charge to schools. Here’s how it works and why it matters.

What is TLA Surplus?

TLA occasionally has surplus items like office furniture, field equipment, and electronics that we no longer need. Instead of letting them go to waste, we offer them to schools across Utah, helping hard-working teachers and administrators save money on essential resources.

Why Offer Surplus to Schools?

By sharing our surplus, we help schools stretch their budgets further. Schools can use the money saved on other important needs like classroom supplies or student programs, while we free up space to get our work done. It’s a win-win!

How the Surplus Program Works

  1. Available for any Utah K-12 Public School: We compile a list of available items and share it with the LANDS Trust Section at the Utah State Board of Education (USBE), who then distributes it to school administrators. Please note that surplus items are only available to Utah public schools, and that requests made by other parties will not be honored.
  2. Free for Schools: Teachers and administrators can claim items for free by submitting their request through the simple form on this page. It’s first-come, first-served, so act fast!
  3. Easy Pickup: Once you’ve claimed an item, our staff will contact you to coordinate pickup. No hassle, no paperwork.
What Can Schools Receive?

Our inventory is always changing, but you may find:

  • Desks, chairs, and other office furniture
  • Electronics like computers and monitors (all data-wiped)
  • Miscellaneous office and field supplies

How to Not Miss Your Chance for FREE STUFF

Watch for updates from the LANDS Trust Section at USBE about available surplus items. When new items are posted, simply browse the list and submit your request right here.

At Trust Lands, we’re dedicated to maximizing our resources to benefit Utah’s public schools. If you have any questions about the process or need help with a step, feel free to reach out!
