Utah’s K-12 public school system is the largest of the 12 trust land beneficiaries. Trust Lands generates revenue from the acres of land held in trust for public schools and deposits the revenue into the Permanent School Fund to grow the principal balance. Annual distributions called School LAND Trust Funds come from earnings generated by the investment of the Permanent fund. These funds are distributed to public schools based largely on a per-pupil formula.
Individual School Community Councils determine the wisest and best use of the School LAND Trust Funds.
