School LAND Trust Program

Revenue generated from school trust lands by SITLA is deposited into the Permanent School Fund.
A separate entity, the School and Institutional Trust Fund Office (SITFO), invests that Fund, which has a balance of more than $3.2 billion.
Annual interest and dividends are distributed annually by the School Children’s Trust Office of the Utah State Board of Education, and each School Community Council determines the highest and best use of School LAND Trust Funds for their school. Programs range from purchasing computers and hiring teachers and classroom aides, to funding college preparatory, music, and reading programs.
