Community / Stewardship

The work of the Trust Lands Administration benefits every Utahn. The agency is entirely self-funded with no taxpayer or general fund support, yet benefits students and taxpayers because of its contributions to the public education system. Development of trust lands also promotes economic and job growth in rural Utah.

Building the Trust
Since 1994, the Trust Lands Administration has generated more than $1.3 billion for Utah's public schools.
Beneficiaries
Learn more about the 12 beneficiaries of Utah's trust lands. SITLA is committed to manage trust lands of behalf of and for the exclusive benefit of these state institutions.
In the Classroom
Revenue generated from school trust lands is transferred into the Permanent School Fund, growing the endowment for public schools.
Conservation and Land Exchanges
Since 1994, the Trust Lands Administration has participated in transactions that have preserved or protected more than 500,000 acres of Utah land.
Utah School Land Trust Program
Annual dividends are distributed through the School LAND Trust program the birthright of every child in Utah's public schools.
